She has already learned the basics of filmmaking in New York. Now, Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala plans to direct her first film.

Manisha has been lying low on the acting scene in Bollywood for last few years. Her venture into film production with Paisa Vasool two years ago turned out to be a box-office disaster. She was last seen playing a small part in Akbar Khan’s Taj Mahal , which was a flop at home, but has now become the second Indian movie to be screened in Pakistan in the last forty years.

Although Manisha presently has very few and selected acting projects on her hand, it is direction, however, that seems to be occupying her thoughts.

Manisha, nowadays shooting in Lucknow for Manish Jha’s movie ‘Anwar’, is presently working on two story ideas, one of which will hopefully materialize into her directorial debut later this year.

“I am working on a few projects and if everything materializes, I will start shooting by year-end,” Koirala is quoted as saying by Associated Press.

Manisha said she has already “learnt the basics about the creative side of film direction” in New York, where she has also been living for quite some time now.

Manisha said she would at the same time continue to act in few films that will appeal to her.
